Hi. New Project X Installer and Uninstaller.

--- Download ---
Don't forget to Run as Administrator (For Windows 8 users)

This is not Project X for 3.7.2.1. This installer makes version 3.6.31.0! (downgrade)


Changes WA.exe and some files to able to play Project X on any version. No need to PXupdate. Uninstaller bring back version was before.

Tested on Win8 and Win7x64. Version 3.7.2.1 (Steam)

Included modules:
wkLobbyCmd.dll wkNickFix.dll wkKawooshKick.dll wkRubberWorm31.dll wkReplayShark31.dll wkNickFix.dll wkWormnat2.dll for v3.6.31.0.

Included big Libs:
cweps ( + ) 9.28mb
pyroman_sfx 5.90mb

Btw, curtis did an update of his big lib using Pyro's animation lib, it's only half the size now...

What a great idea!!!!!!! Amazing work reituz!!

This will surely give a huge boost to the number of people using PX!

Does this mean people with Steam WA can finally use PX?

Lol Electro, read reituz' post again xD It downgrades WA to teh version PX needs. That would be a non-Steam version.
It would be interesting to see if you end up with a working non-steam WA install after applying this to a Steam-install...

Interesting indeed 8-). The steam version is also 3.7.2.1, identical to the cd version, except pre-patched. So it should work.

The only reason Steam copies didnt work with PX before is that there was no way to downgrade the patch. This utility should fix that.

I tested, and PX, from this installer, DOES work with the Steam WA!

I just had to load LoadWormKitModules_Enabled.reg in the Tweaks folder before it worked. This might be because my Steam software is very out of date and I never use it.

Extremely painless process. This is really awesome!!! Great work reituz.

I didn't test Rubberworm, but I noticed it's not renamed to wkPubberWorm31.dll -- would it still work?

Now we just need this installer linked on the main PX download page on px.worms2d.info, and on the Worms Knowledge Base (http://worms2d.info/Project_X), so that there's a nice short URL to give to players who don't have PX yet.


Edit: hope you don't mind: I started a thread on TUS and on Steam. I'll delete my threads if you want to make your own :)

Unfortunately, this installer includes a modified (cracked) executable of the game, which is the only reason why this works on the Steam version. It will, otherwise, not work on the CD version of the game (crash upon start of a match), unless there have been files copied from the CD and/or used in conjunction with wkFileOverride before.
There's a simpler and legal way to run the CD edition through Steam: simply make an image out of your Steam files and use it with the CD updates. You don't need to modify the original executable.

Thanks steps .. i haven't tried it with the cd version, but what you say makes sense. I'll edit my posts when i remember my passwords..

The installer method is definitely way simpler than making a cd image IMHO. Legality issues are just a technicality, and Team17 can go to hell if they object to paying customers using a no-cd patch.

This installer is a huge step forward for the PX community, because it makes it so much easier for unmotivated people to get started. Hopefully it will result in a huge increase in PX players.


Suggested changes so far:
-Add a checkbox "CD Version" which either:
---Installs a non-modified WA.exe 3.6.31.0 (instead of the cracked no-cd), OR
---Uses wkFileOverride to auto-copy CD contents to WA folder

-Rename wkRubber dll to wkPubber


The wkFileOverRide method would be good because it's legal (I think), so the installer wouldn't get deleted off the Steam forums. The installer looks pretty advanced so hopefully one of the above "CD version" changes would be possible to incorporate :)

The forum seems like dead :( i hope someone still around.

First at all, sorry formy english :P

Im comming back to WA (las time of activity was in 2008) ... wonderfull game.

I wanna try Project X, but i cant find 3.6.31.0 patch in no where, maybe someona can upload this for me?

I gonna try using this installer but i got the CD version, maybe not success, well i come back later.
