Would PX allow the use of transparency in maps??

The reason I am asking is because it would kinda be cool to have certain areas slightly opaque and still be able to walk in, behind, in front of. It would give maps more of an interactive feel.

Yes sure, but not in direct way.
It`s possible with MEd. You can add any image on prepared map, in any place. It can be any opacity. Even 0x0x0 black. Remember my Fake walls or invisible walls in NewAge PX RR? pics can be placed on top or on bottom by giving it Z (depth) number.
That lib was made by Zed long time ago and named addsprite.pxl. You can use it to simply put any png anywhere on map. I`ve made some improvement based on it, added ability to work with zones (activates by reaching zone area). And its placed into pyroman_traps_sprites.pxl, Editor object - SpriterZ.
